Challenge

Specialist provider of legal education ULAW is a multi-campus university, whose chief recruitment drive centres on multiple nationwide UCAS student recruitment events which occur annually. The success of each event boils down to how much personal data capture is gathered from potential students. With a previous average of just 30 leads per event, ULAW wanted to engage more effectively with students in deciding a future career and to significantly improve on this result.

Solution

In collaboration with leading design and project management agency NeosCreative, a worldwide exhibition industry specialist, the Gravit8 team created an augmented reality and data capture interactive for use at a number of ULAW roadshows travelling around the UK.

Users were able to walk up to a touch screen, where they were asked six multiple choice questions which would help define their suited career. Students could then ‘see’ themselves in that role by having an outfit superimposed on them. This created a fun aspect but also a key visual element, enabling students to send this picture to themselves and share on social media. The collected data also showed demographic trends in relation to area and career choice, e.g. students attending the Manchester roadshow showed a high interest in joining the police, whereas in London, embarking on a legal career was most popular, based on responses to the qualifying questions. The information gathered also gave ULAW key insight into students’ minds.

Result

The very first stand designed and built gained more than 400 leads, with the average per event currently 250 leads based across an 11-event programme. An ‘A’ grade result for ULAW!
